Predicted to enable extracellular matrix constituent, lubricant activity. Predicted to be an extracellular matrix structural constituent. Predicted to act upstream of or within maintenance of lens transparency. Located in extracellular space and mucus layer. Implicated in dry eye syndrome. Biomarker of several diseases, including Sjogren's syndrome; biliary tract disease (multiple); cystic fibrosis; eye disease (multiple); and pancreatic cancer (multiple). Function
Gastric Mucin 5AC antigen is found in columnar mucus cells of surface gastric epithelium and in goblet cells of the fetal and precancerous colon but not in normal colon. Resurgence of gastric mucin during colonic carcinogenesis is suggestive of either re-expression of the peptide core of gastric mucin in the adult colon or due to changes in the glycosylation pattern of mucin, which expose the hidden Mucin 5AC antigen.
Cellular Localization

Application
WB
Western blot analysis of MUC5AC in Hela , NIH/3T3 lysates and using MUC5AC Goat pAb.
IF
Immunofluorescence analysis of MUC5AC(Green) in mouse stomach tissue using MUC5AC Goat pAb, and DAPI(Blue)
