Serum refers to the pale yellow transparent liquid separated from plasma after removing fibrinogen and certain coagulation factors after blood clotting, or refers to plasma where fibrinogen has been removed. Its main function is to provide basic nutrients, hormones and various growth factors, binding proteins, promoting contact and growth factors to prevent cell adhesion from mechanical damage, and providing certain protective effects on cultured cells.
