Product Profile
Product Name Bax antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description

Rabbit Polyclonal antibody to BaxThe protein encoded by this gene belongs to the BCL2 protein family. BCL2 family members form hetero- or homodimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators that are involved in a wide variety of cellular activities. This protein forms a heterodimer with BCL2, and functions as an apoptotic activator. This protein is reported to interact with, and increase the opening of, the mitochondrial voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC), which leads to the loss in membrane potential and the release of cytochrome c. The expression of this gene is regulated by the tumor suppressor P53 and has been shown to be involved in P53-mediated apoptosis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants, which encode different isoforms, have been reported for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Application

Application

Western blot analysis of BAX expression in MCF7 (A); HeLa (B); A431 (C); HEK293T (D); Raw264.7 (E); rat brain (F) whole cell lysates.

Application

Immunohistochemical analysis of BAX staining in human lung cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.

WB

Expression of apoptosis-related proteins by Western blot (a).
