| Product description | Rabbit polyclonal to MMP11Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. However, the enzyme encoded by this gene is activated intracellularly by furin within the constitutive secretory pathway. Also in contrast to other MMP's, this enzyme cleaves alpha 1 proteinase inhibitor but weakly degrades structural proteins of the extracellular matrix. |

| Tissue Specificity | Rabbit Anti-MMP11, N-Terminal specifically binds to MMP11 and does not cross-react with the other MMP family members (MMP1, MMP2, MMP3, MMP9, etc). Depending on the activation method, MMP11 can be seen as a cascade of active forms. By immunoblotting against the reduced protein, the antibody reacts with bands at 58 kDa and 45 kDa and a series of further cleaved active forms. It also reacts with non-reduced MMP11.Higher antibody concentrations may be necessary for non-human samples. |
