Product Profile
Product Name MMP20 antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description Rabbit polyclonal to MMP20Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. The protein encoded by this gene degrades amelogenin, the major protein component of dental enamel matrix, and so the protein is thought to play a role in tooth enamel formation. The gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3.
Immunogen Synthetic peptide corresponding to the propeptide region of human MMP20.
Key Feature
Clonality Polyclonal
Isotype IgG
Host Species Rabbit
Tested Applications ELISAIHCIPWB
ELISA: Use at an assay dependent dilution. IHC: Use at an assay dependent dilution. IP: Use at an assay dependent dilution. WB: Use at a dilution of 1/1000, this dilution is determined using a concentrated cell culture media from a stimulated human cell line, an alkaline phosphatase conjugated secondary antibody and BCIP/NBT as the substrate. Higher antibody concentrations may be necessary for non-human samples. By blotting against the reduced protein, the antibody reacts with a band at 58 kDa (proenzyme). Ab 11633 also recognizes non-reduced MMP20. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.:

Tissue Specificity Rabbit Anti-MMP20, Propeptide Region specifically binds to MMP20 and does not cross-react with the other MMP family members (MMP1, MMP2, MMP3, MMP9, etc). The propeptide region of MMP20 is shed during enzymatic activation; thus the antibody does not recognize the activated forms of MMP20 and can be used to differentiate between the zymogen (proenzyme) and the activated enzyme. By immunoblotting against the reduced protein, the antibody reacts with a band at 58 kDa (proenzyme). Anti-MMP20, propeptide region also recognizes non-reduced MMP20.
Cellular Localization Secreted
Positive Control Osteosarcoma cells, HeLa cells, and gingival fibroblasts
