BBS5 is a protein that has been directly linked to Bardet-Biedl syndrome. The primary features of this syndrome include retinal dystrophy, obesity, polydactyly, renal abnormalities and learning disabilities. Experimentation in non-human eukaryotes suggests that this gene is expressed in ciliated cells and that it is required for the formation of cilia. This gene encodes a protein that has been directly linked to Bardet-Biedl syndrome. Alternate transcriptional splice variants have been observed but have not been fully characterized.1) Hjortshoj, T.D., (2008) Am. J. Med. Genet. A 146A (4), 517-520.

Storage Instructions
For short periods of storage (days) store at 4˚C. For longer periods of storage, store BBS5 antibody at -20˚C. As with any antibody avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.
Storage Buffer
Antibody is lyophilized in PBS buffer with 2% sucrose. Add 50 μL of distilled water. Final antibody concentration is 1 mg/mL.
