DYNC1I1 belongs to the dynein intermediate chain family. It contains 7 WD repeats. The intermediate chains seem to help dynein bind to dynactin 150 kDa component. DYNC1I1 may play a role in mediating the interaction of cytoplasmic dynein with membranous organelles and kinetochores.1) Pfister, K.K., (2005) J. Cell Biol. 171 (3), 411-413.
