This gene encodes a protein which interacts with the nonstructural NS1 protein of the influenza A virus. In noninfected cells, affinity-purified antibodies localized this protein in nuclear regions enriched with the spliceosome assembly factor SC35, suggesting an association with the cellular splicing apparatus. In influenza A virus-infected cells, the protein relocalized throughout the nucleoplasm and appeared distinct from the SC35 domains, which suggests that its function may be disturbed or altered.1) Wolff, T., et al., (1998) J. Virol. 72 (9), 7170-7180.
