In addition to the hallmark feature of this gene family, a conserved paired box domain, the encoded protein also contains a homeo box domain. Both domains are known to bind DNA, and function as regulators of gene transcription. This gene is expressed in the developing nervous system, and in developing eyes. Mutations in this gene are known to cause aniridia as well as Peter's anomaly, both ocular diseases.1) Kim, E.A., (2006) J. Biol. Chem. 281 (11), 7489-7497.
Immunogen
Antibody produced in rabbits immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding a region of human PAX6.
For short periods of storage (days) store at 4˚C. For longer periods of storage, store PAX6 antibody at -20˚C. As with any antibody avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.
Storage Buffer
Antibody is lyophilized in PBS buffer with 2% sucrose. Add 50 μL of distilled water. Final antibody concentration is 1 mg/mL.
