RARG is a receptor for retinoic acid. This metabolite has profound effects on vertebrate development. Retinoic acid is a morphogen and is a powerful teratogen. RARG controls cell function by directly regulating gene expression.1) Dey, N., (2007) Mol. Cell. Biol. 27 (11), 4179-4197 .
