CMT2CC
Gene Full Name neurofilament heavy chain
Gene Summary Neurofilaments are type IV intermediate filament heteropolymers composed of light, medium, and heavy chains. Neurofilaments comprise the axoskeleton and functionally maintain neuronal caliber. They may also play a role in intracellular transport to axons and dendrites. This gene encodes the heavy neurofilament protein. This protein is commonly used as a biomarker of neuronal damage and susceptibility to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has been associated with mutations in this gene. Application

WB

Western blot of rat cortical lysate showing specific immunolabeling of the ~200 kDa NF-H protein.

IF-P

Immunostaining of mixed cultured rat neurons and glia stained with anti-NFH antibody (red, 1:25,000) and anti-NFL antibody (green, 1:100).

IF-P

Immunofluorescence of a section of rat cerebellum showing specific labeling of the axons with anti-neurofilament H antibody (green, 1:25,000). The section is colabeled with anti-calbindin (red, 1:1000) labeling the dendrites of Purkinje cells. The blue is DAPI staining nuclear DNA.

IHC:1:5000-1:25000
IF-P:1:25000
Additional Information
Form Liquid
Storage Instructions Recommended that the undiluted antibody be aliquoted into smaller working volumes (10-30 uL/vial depending on usage) upon arrival and stored long term at -20° C or -80° C, while keeping a working aliquot stored at 4° C for short term. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Stable for at least 1 year.
Storage Buffer PBS + 10 mM NaN3.
