Gene Symbol SST
Gene Synonyms SMST
SST1
Gene Full Name somatostatin
Gene Summary The hormone somatostatin has active 14 aa and 28 aa forms that are produced by alternate cleavage of the single preproprotein encoded by this gene. Somatostatin is expressed throughout the body and inhibits the release of numerous secondary hormones by binding to high-affinity G-protein-coupled somatostatin receptors. This hormone is an important regulator of the endocrine system through its interactions with pituitary growth hormone, thyroid stimulating hormone, and most hormones of the gastrointestinal tract. Somatostatin also affects rates of neurotransmission in the central nervous system and proliferation of both normal and tumorigenic cells. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Alternative Names SMST
SST1
Molecular Weight(MW) 13 kDa
Cellular Localization Secreted.
Application

WB

Western blot analysis of lysates from Mouse brain using Somatostatin (SST) Rabbit mAb at 1:5000 dilution incubated overnight at 4℃. Secondary antibody: HRP-conjugated Goat anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) at 1:10000 dilution. Lysates/proteins: 25 μg per lane. Blocking buffer: 3% nonfat dry milk in TBST. Detection: ECL Basic Kit. Exposure time: 90 s.

IHC

Immunohistochemistry analysis of paraffin embedded Human pancreas tissue using Somatostatin (SST) Rabbit mAb at a dilution of 1:500 (40x lens). High pressure antigen retrieval performed with 0.01M Tris EDTA Buffer (pH 9.0) prior to IHC staining.

IHC

Immunohistochemistry analysis of paraffin embedded Mouse colon tissue using Somatostatin (SST) Rabbit mAb at a dilution of 1:500 (40x lens). High pressure antigen retrieval performed with 0.01M Tris EDTA Buffer (pH 9.0) prior to IHC staining.

IHC

Immunohistochemistry analysis of paraffin embedded Rat brain tissue using Somatostatin (SST) Rabbit mAb at a dilution of 1:500 (40x lens). High pressure antigen retrieval performed with 0.01M Tris EDTA Buffer (pH 9.0) prior to IHC staining.

IF-P

Confocal imaging of paraffin-embedded Mouse spinal cord tissue using Somatostatin (SST) Rabbit mAb (dilution 1:200) followed by a further incubation with Cy3 conjugated Goat anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) (dilution 1:500) (Red). DAPI was used for nuclear staining (Blue). High pressure antigen retrieval performed with 0.01M Citrate Buffer (pH 6.0) prior to IF staining. Objective: 40x.

IF-F

Confocal imaging of frozen sections of Mouse pancreas tissue using Somatostatin (SST) Rabbit mAb (dilution 1:200) followed by a further incubation with Cy3 conjugated Goat anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) (dilution 1:500) (Red). DAPI was used for nuclear staining (Blue). Microwave antigen retrieval performed with 0.01M Citrate Buffer (pH 6.0) prior to IF staining. Objective: 40x.
