raised against synthetic SP140L peptide of human origin
Modification Notes
SP140L (nuclear body protein SP140-like protein) is a 438 amino acid protein that has significant sequence similarities to SP140, a component of the nuclear body that may be involved in trafficking between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. Expressed as three isoforms produced by alternative splicing, SP140L contains one HSR domain, one PHD-type zinc finger and one SAND domain. The gene that encodes SP140L maps to human chromosome 2, which consists of 237 million bases encoding over 1,400 genes and making up approximately 8% of the human genome. A number of genetic diseases are linked to genes on chromosome 2. Harlequin icthyosis, a rare and morbid skin deformity, is associated with mutations in the ABCA12 gene. The lipid metabolic disorder sitosterolemia is associated with ABCG5 and ABCG8. An extremely rare recessive genetic disorder, Alström syndrome is due to mutations in the ALMS1 gene.
