Product Profile
Product Name STON1-ALF Antibody (G-21)
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Modification Notes ALF (TFIIA å/∫ like factor), also known as GTF2A1L (general transcription factor IIA 1-like), is a nuclear and cytoplasmic protein that is specifically expressed in haploid spermatids in the testis. ALF is believed to play a role in spermatogenesis, functioning as a transcription factor, and is related to the large å/∫ subunit of TFIIA, existing as the germ cell-specific paralog. Similar to TFIIA-å/∫, ALF associates with the smaller TFIIA subunit, TFIIA-©, and functions to stabilize the interaction between TBP and DNA by binding directly to TBP and DNA (at the TATA box), thus forming a TBP/ALF/TATA complex which mediates the transcriptional output of a gene. STON1, also known as SALF, SBLF, STN1 or Stonin-1, is a 735 amino acid ubiquitously expressed protein that localizes to both the cytoplasm and the membrane and is thought to be involved in the correct operation of endocytic machinery. The genes encoding both STON1 and ALF map to human chromosome 2 and, when co-transcribed, produce a fusion protein known as STONE1-ALF.
