epitope mapping near the N-terminus of ZNF294 of human origin
Modification Notes
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have a wide variety of functions, most of which encompass some form of transcriptional activation or repression. The majority of zinc-finger proteins contain a Krüppel-type DNA binding domain and a KRAB domain, which is thought to interact with KAP1, thereby recruiting histone modifying proteins. ZNF294 (zinc finger protein 294), also known as RNF160 (RING finger protein 160), is a 1766 amino acid protein that contains one RING-type zinc finger. The RING-type zinc finger, also designated C3HC4 zinc finger, is a conserved cysteine-rich domain that binds two atoms of zinc. Many proteins that contain the RING-type zinc finger have been found to play key roles in the ubiquitination pathway, suggesting that RING-type zinc finger containing proteins may be E3 ubiquitin protein ligases responsible for substrate recognition.
