Product Profile
Product Name alpha 1 Catenin antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description Rabbit polyclonal to alpha 1 CateninThe catenins (alpha, beta and gamma) are cytoplasmic proteins found in varying abundance in many developing and adult tissues. Catenins bind directly or indirectly to the conserved cytoplasmic tail domain of the cell adhesion cadherins. The association of catenins to cadherins produces a complex, which is linked to the actin filament network. Catenins/cadherin complexes play an important role in mediating cell adhesion, transduction of cell-cell contact positional signals to the cell interior, and may play a crucial role in cell differentiation. The linkage of the epithelial E-cadherin/ uvomorulin to actin is essential for the cell binding function of this cadherin. Alpha-Catenin (CAP102, 102 kDa), originally described as an E-cadherin associated protein, has been shown to associate with other members of the cadherin family members, N-cadherin and P-cadherin.
Immunogen Synthetic peptide: EKQDETQTKIKRASQ conjugated to KLH, corresponding to amino acids 873-887 of Human alpha 1 Catenin.

Tissue Specificity Anti-alpha-E-Catenin recognizes alpha-E-catenin (102 kDa).Staining of the alpha-E-catenin band in immunoblotting is specifically inhibited with the alpha-E-catenin immunizing peptide (human, amino acids 873-887).
Cellular Localization Cell Membrane and Cytoplasmic
Application

Application

Rat embryonic brain (S1) extract was separated on SDS-PAGE and probed with IGG FRACTION AB TO α-E-CATENIN (RB) . The antibody was developed with HRP Anti-Rabbit IgG and an ECL substrate. Antibody dilution 1/2,000.
Application Notes ICC: Use at a dilution of 1/100. WB: Use at a dilution of 1/1000. Detects a band of approximately 102 kDa. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.:
