Product Profile
Product Name AMPK alpha (phospho Thr172) antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description Rabbit polyclonal antibody to AMPK alpha (phospho Thr172)AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is highly conserved from yeast to plants and animals, and it plays a key role in regulation of energy homeostasis. The kinase is activated by an elevated AMP-ATP ratio due to cellular and environmental stress, such as heat shock, hypoxia and ischemia. AMPK also has a role in apoptosis. AMP plays an essential role in the activation of AMPK. Firstly, it is required for AMPK phosphorylation by the upstream kinase AMPKK at Thr172. AMPK phosphorylation by AMPKK raises AMPK activity at least 50-fold. Secondly, AMP also inhibits the dephosphorylation and inactivation of AMPK by PP2C.
Immunogen Synthetic peptide - surrounding Thr172 of human AMPK-alpha (KLH coupled)

Target Information
Gene Synonyms AMPK, AMPKa1, MGC33776, MGC57364, AMPKa (phospho T172), AMPKa (phospho Thr172), AMPKa (pT172), AMPKa (pThr172), AMPKa phospho T172, AMPKa phospho Thr172, Phospho AMPKa (T172), Phospho AMPKa (Thr172), Phospho AMPKa (pT172), Phospho AMPKa (pThr172)
Target AMPK alpha (phospho Thr172)
Tissue Specificity Recognizes endogenous human AMPK-alpha only when activated by phosphorylation at Thr172 at 62kD. Detects both alpha-1 and alpha-2 isoforms of the catalytic subunit. It does not detect the regulatory beta or gamma subunits.
Application Notes For ELISA: Use at an assay dependent dilution. For WB: Use at a dilution of 1:1,000. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
