Product Profile
Product Name AMPK beta 1 (phospho Ser182) antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description Rabbit Polyclonal antibody to AMPK beta 1 (phospho Ser182)The protein encoded by this gene is a regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is a heterotrimer consisting of an alpha catalytic subunit, and non-catalytic beta and gamma subunits. AMPK is an important energy-sensing enzyme that monitors cellular energy status. In response to cellular metabolic stresses, AMPK is activated, and thus phosphorylates and inactivates acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and beta-hydroxy beta-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), key enzymes involved in regulating de novo biosynthesis of fatty acid and cholesterol. This subunit may be a positive regulator of AMPK activity. The myristoylation and phosphorylation of this subunit have been shown to affect the enzyme activity and cellular localization of AMPK. This subunit may also serve as an adaptor molecule mediating the association of the AMPK complex. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Target AMPK beta 1 (phospho Ser182)
Tissue Specificity Recognizes endogenous levels of AMPK beta 1 (pS182) protein.
Application

Application

Western blot analysis of AMPK beta 1 (pS182) expression in A431 (A); NIH3T3 (B); PC12 (C) whole cell lysates.

Application

Immunohistochemical analysis of AMPK beta 1 (pS182) staining in human lung cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
Application Notes WB: 1:500 - 1:1000. IHC-P: 1:100 - 1:200
