| Product description | Mouse monoclonal [4D9] to IL4The protein encoded by this gene is a pleiotropic cytokine produced by activated T cells. This cytokine is a ligand for interleukin 4 receptor. The interleukin 4 receptor also binds to IL13, which may contribute to many overlapping functions of this cytokine and IL13. STAT6, a signal transducer and activator of transcription, has been shown to play a central role in mediating the immune regulatory signal of this cytokine. This gene, IL3, IL5, IL13, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, with this gene particularly close to IL13. This gene, IL13 and IL5 are found to be regulated coordinately by several long-range regulatory elements in an over 120 kilobase range on the chromosome. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. |

| ICC: Use at an assay dependent dilution. Intracellular staining of human IL4 with GTX13779 can be demonstrated with the use of transfected CHO cells expressing this cytokine. Furthermore, the antibody can be used for intracellular staining of mitogen stimulated, purified human T cells and of gradient purified human basophils stimulated with IL3. WB: Use at an assay dependent dilution. Predicted molecular weight: 18.4 kDa. By spot blot and Western blot analysis GTX13779 reacts equally well with native and denatured amounts of human IL4 lower than 10 ng (Reusch P et al). Neut: Use at an assay dependent dilution. A preparation of clone 4D9 that has no preservatives or stabilizers and has a low content of endotoxin is recommeded for this application. Clone 4D9 was demonstrated to neutralize the biological activity of human IL4 by inhibition of IL4 stimulated T cell proliferation (Reusch P et al). Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.: |
