Product Profile
Product Name MMP28 antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description Rabbit polyclonal to MMP28The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of at least eighteen secreted and membrane-bound zinc-endopeptidases. Collectively, these enzymes can degrade all the components of the extracellular matrix, including fibrillar and non-fibrillar collagens, fibronectin, laminin and basement membrane glycoproteins. In general, a signal peptide, a propeptide, and a catalytic domain containing the highly conserved zinc-binding site characterizes the structure of the MMPs. In addition, fibronectin-like repeats, a hinge region, and a C-terminal hemopexin-like domain allow categorization of MMPs into the collagenase, gelatinase, stomelysin and membrane-type MMP subfamilies. MMPs contain the motif His-Glu-X-X-His (X represents any amino acid) that binds zinc in the catalytic site, as well as another zinc molecule and two calcium molecules structurally. They fall within the matrixin subfamily and are EC designated 3.4.24.x. This group also contains astacin, reprolysin, and serralysin, as well as other more divergent metalloproteinases. All MMPs are synthesized as proenzymes, and most of them are secreted from the cells as proenzymes. Thus, the activation of these proenzymes is a critical step that leads to extracellular matrix breakdown.
Immunogen Synthetic peptide (Human) propeptide region.
Key Feature
Clonality Polyclonal
Isotype IgG
Host Species Rabbit
Tested Applications WB
WB: Use at a dilution of 1/1000. A starting dilution of 1/5000 is recommended for chemiluminescent substrates. By immunoblotting against the reduced protein, the antibody identifies bands at 62 kDa and 58 kDa, as well as breakdown products at 50 kDa, 48 kDa, and 46 kDa. It also detects a 70 kDa band in mouse and rat tissues which probably represents the larger proform. Note: Higher antibody dilutions may be necessary for non-human samples. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
Species Reactivity HumanMouseRat
Concentration 1mg/ml (Please refer to the vial label for the specific concentration)
Purification Affinity purified
Target Information
Gene Synonyms 608417, Q9H239, MMP25, 79148, MMP28, MM28
Target MMP28
Tissue Specificity The antibody specifically binds to MMP28 and does not cross react with the other MMP family members (MMP1, MMP2, MMP3, MMP9, etc.).
Cellular Localization Secreted
