Product Profile
Product Name Myelin basic protein antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description Rabbit polyclonal to Myelin Basic Protein - Oligodendrocyte MarkerThe classic group of Myelin basic protein (MBP) isoforms (isoforms 4-14) are with PLP the most abundant protein components of the myelin membrane in the CNS. They have a role in both its formation and stabilization. The smaller isoforms might have an important role in remyelination of denuded axons in multiple sclerosis. The non-classic group of MBP isoforms (isoforms 1-3/Golli-MBPs) may preferentially have a role in the early developing brain long before myelination, maybe as components of transcriptional complexes, and may also be involved in signaling pathways in T-cells and neural cells. Differential splicing events combined to optional posttranslational modifications give a wide spectrum of isomers, each of them having maybe a specialized function.
Immunogen Human myelin basic protein isolated from normal human brain.
Key Feature
Clonality Polyclonal
Host Species Rabbit
Tested Applications IHCIHC-P
For IHC-P: Use at a dilution of 1:50-1:100 in an ABC method. We suggest an incubation period of 30 minutes at RT. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the researcher.:

Target Myelin basic protein
Tissue Specificity This antibody reacts with human myelin basic protein and oligodendrocytes of white matter in brain and spinal cord. Grey matter stains weakly. This antibody also stains peripheral nerves.
Cellular Localization Cytoplasmic side of myelin
Application

Application

Formalin fixed paraffin embedded human brain stained with MBP antibody .

Application

at a dilution of 1/1000, staining Myelin Basic Protein (MBP; Alexa 488 secondary at 1/2000) in the cortex of rat brain tissue (30m thick coronal sections). Staining was obtained following free floating IHC (see protocol link for detailed descript
