Product Profile
Product Name Peripherin antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description Mouse monoclonal [8G2 ] to PeripherinPeripherin is a Class III intermediate filament subunit found in both the peripheral and central nervous systems, though it is concentrated, as its name suggests, in the neurons of peripherial ganglia and their processes. Antibodies to peripherin can be used in identifying, classifying, and studying neurons in these two systems. Peripherin is also a good diagnostic marker for ballooned axons seen in Lou Gehrig's disease and some neuronally derived tumors. Peripherin is also a major component of the cytoskeleton of PC12 cells, widely used model system for studies of neuronal differentiation. Autoantibodies to peripherin are frequently seen in the sera of patients with diabetes. Peripherin is not related to peripherin-RDS, a photoreceptor protein associated with retinal degeneration and blindness
Immunogen Recombinant peripherin
Key Feature
Clonality Monoclonal
Isotype IgG1
Clone Number 8G2
Host Species Mouse
Tested Applications ELISAICC/IFIHC-PWB
WB: 1:100. ICC:A band at ~57 kDa can be seen in Western blotting. 1:25 ~ 1:50. The investigator should determine the optimal dilution for a specific application. The antibody is rather sensitive to formalin fixation. It works well on unfixed frozen sections, and it works on cells in tissue culture fixed in formalin for a few minutes, but after that the staining goes down. Try fixing for only 10 minutes in formalin followed by a PBS wash, followed by the regular staining protocol for best results.:
