Product Profile
Product Name NMDA NR2B (phospho Tyr1472) Antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Antigen Alias GluN2B, N-methyl D-aspartate receptor subtype 2B, GluN2B
Product description The ion channels activated by glutamate are typically divided into two classes. Those that are sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) are designated NMDA receptors (NMDAR). The NMDAR plays an essential role in memory, neuronal development and it has also been implicated in several disorders of the central nervous system including Alzheimer’s, epilepsy and ischemic neuronal cell death. Overexpression of the NR2B subunit of the receptor has been associated with increases in learning and memory while aged, memory impaired animals have deficiencies in NR2B expression. Tyr1472 on NR2B is phosphorylated and this may lead to the increased expression of the NMDAR at the synapse that plays a role in synaptic plasticity.1) Loftis, J.M. and Janowsky, A., "The N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor subunit NR2B: localization, functional properties, regulation, and clinical implications," Pharmacol. Ther., 97 (2003) 55 - 85.
Immunogen NMDA NR2B (Tyr1472) polyclonal antibody was raised against a synthetic phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acids residues surrounding the phosphorylated Tyr1472 of rat NMDA NR2B.
Modification p-Tyr1472
Key Feature
Clonality Polyclonal
Host Species Rabbit
Tested Applications WB
The labeling of the NR2B protein in Western blots of rat brain is blocked by the phosphopeptide but not by the dephosphopeptide. The antibody also labels bands at 65k and 115k. Applications include Dot Blots (DB) and Western Blots (WB). Human, mouse, and rat have 100% amino acid sequence identity with the antigen used to raise the antibody. When internally tested under ideal conditions the working dilutions were 1:1000 for DB and WB.:
