Western blot analysis of Spartan/SPRTN using anti-Spartan/SPRTN antibody. The sample well of each lane was loaded with 30 ug of sample under reducing conditions. Lane 1: human placenta tissue lysates. After electrophoresis, proteins were transferred to a membrane. Then the membrane was incubated with rabbit anti-Spartan/SPRTN antigen affinity purified polyclonal antibody at a dilution of 1:1000 and probed with a goat anti-rabbit IgG-HRP secondary antibody. The signal is developed using ECL Plus Western Blotting Substrate. A specific band was detected for Spartan/SPRTN at approximately 65 kDa. The expected band size for Spartan/SPRTN is at 55 kDa.IHC

| Gene Summary | The protein encoded by this gene may play a role in DNA repair during replication of damaged DNA. This protein recruits valosin containing protein (p97) to stalled DNA replication forks where it may prevent excessive translesional DNA synthesis and limit the number of DNA-damage induced mutations. It may also be involved in replication-related G2/M-checkpoint regulation. Deficiency of a similar protein in mouse causes chromosomal instability and progeroid phenotypes.
