Mouse monoclonal [17C7] to alpha 1 SpectrinSpectrin is the predominant component of the membrane skeleton of the red blood cell and is essential in determining shape and deformability of the membrane. It consists of 2 nonidentical subunits, alpha (MW 240,000) and beta (MW 225,000). Spectrin is present in the red cell membrane in a tetrameric or possibly higher polymeric form through head-to-head self-association of heterodimers that are linked by actin polymers and protein 4.1 to form a 2-dimensional network.

IF: Use at a dilution of 1/100 - 1/500. IHC-Fr: Use at a dilution of 1/50 - 1/100. WB: Use at a dilution of 1/100 - 1/1000. Predicted molecular weight: 280 kDa. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.:
Species Reactivity
HumanMouseRat
Concentration
1mg/ml (Please refer to the vial label for the specific concentration)
is developed against the alpha I spectrin SH3 domain. It does not crossreact with alpha II (nonerythroid) spectrin SH3 domain or recombinant human fodrin SH3 domain. In NIH 3T3 cells, reacts with a 200 kDa protein which is a candidate marker of endocytic vesicles called macropinosomes.
Cellular Localization
Anchored to the cytoplasmic face of the plasma membrane.
Application
Application
IF - alpha 1 Spectrin antibody [17C7]
Positive Control
Erythroid spectrin in red blood cells and cerebellum
