Product Profile
Product Name CRH Antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) is secreted by the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus in response to stress (1). In addition to production in the hypothalamus, this protein is also synthesized in peripheral tissues, such as T lymphocytes and is highly expressed in the placenta where it is a marker that determines the length of gestation and the timing of parturition and delivery. A rapid increase in circulating levels of the hormone occurs at the onset of parturition, suggesting that, in addition to its metabolic functions, this protein may act as a trigger for parturitio (2). Marked reduction in this protein has been observed in association with Alzheimer disease (3).1) Maras PM and Baram TZ. Sculpting the hippocampus from within: stress, spines, and CRH. Trends Neurosci. 2012; 315-24.
Immunogen CRH antibody was raised against a 16 amino acid peptide near the amino terminus of human CRH. The immunogen is located within amino acids 30 - 80 of CRH.
