Product Profile
Product Name Anti-Sulfotyrosine antibody
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description

Sulfonyltyrosine is a common post-translational modification of secreted proteins, plasma membrane proteins, and lysosomal proteins. The sulfation reaction is catalyzed by specific sulfotransferases in the trans Golgi network. Tyrosine sulfation occurs in all multicellular organisms, and up to 1% of tyrosine in the total protein content of cells can be sulfated. Sulfonyltyrosine mediates many receptor ligand binding interactions, including the interaction between P-selectin glycoprotein ligand 1 and P-selectin, the binding of factor VIII to hemophilia factor, and the interaction between thrombin and hirudin. Sulfonyltyrosine is also involved in the entry of several parasites and viruses. For example, the entry of the virus into host cells requires tyrosine sulfation of the HIV-1 co receptor CCR5, while tyrosine sulfation of the Duffy antigen/chemokine receptor is crucial for the invasion of red blood cells by the malaria parasite Plasmodium vivax.

Immunogen Epitope: Sulfated tyrosine. This antibody was developed using the phage display library described by Kehoe et al. in 2006. Select antigens KAKISDP-DY (SO3) MTGYMDAC and KDKKYATEY (SO3) - EYLDYDFC
