The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins that inhibit adenylate cyclase activity. The 5-HT1B receptor has been reported to be expressed in a variety of neurons predominantly in the central nervous system. It has been suggested that Human 5-HT1B receptors are located somatodendritically on GABAergic and peptidergic caudate-putamen neurons which project to the substantia nigra and globus pallidus, where these receptors are presynaptic. 5-HT1B expression has also been seen in heart, blood vessels, and eye. |
