Mouse monoclonal [5C8] to Galectin4GAL4 is a transcriptional activator which controls expression of the genes necessary for galactose catabolism. Two acidic regions of GAL4, activating region I (aa148-238) and activating region II (aa768-881) can activate transcription when independently joined to a DNA-binding domain. In addition, interaction with GAL80 has been reported to be mediated by aa848-881. GAL4 transactivation and DNA binding domains are used in yeast two hybrid studies. GAL4 antibodies with different specificities can be used when working with proteins tagged with the different GAL4 domains. |
