Sandwich ELISA analysis of human IL1 alpha protein in dodecuplicate at 400, 160, 64, 25.6, 10.25 and 0 pg/ml (50ul per well) using as capture antibody (3ug/ml) and as capture antibody (0.15ug/ml). The plate was washed and incubated with Streptavidin-HRP. Detection was performed using TMB Substrate. The plate was then stopped with 0.16M sulfuric acid. This cytokine is a pleiotropic cytokine involved in various immune responses, inflammatory processes, and hematopoiesis. This cytokine is produced by monocytes and macrophages as a proprotein, which is proteolytically processed and released in response to cell injury, and thus induces apoptosis. This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2.
