Product Profile
Product Name MUC1 antibody (ready-to-use)
Antibody Type Primary Antibodies
Product description Mouse monoclonal [GP1.4] to MUC1 predilutedMUC1 is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic cell lineages. It is expressed on most secretory epithelium, including mammary gland and some hematopoietic cells. It is expressed abundantly in lactating mammary glands and overexpressed abundantly in >90% breast carcinomas and metastases. Transgenic MUC-1 has been shown to associate with all four cebB receptors and localize with erbB1 (EGFR) in lactating glands. The MUC1 gene contains seven exons and produces several different alternatively spliced variants. The major expressed form of MUC1 uses all seven exons and is a type 1 transmembrane protein with a large extracellular tandem repeat domain. The tandem repeat domain is highly O glycosylated and alterations in glycosylation have been shown in epithelial cancer cells.
Immunogen BALB/C mice were immunized with human milk fat globule membranes.
Key Feature
Clonality Monoclonal
Isotype IgG1
Clone Number GP1.4
Host Species Mouse
Tested Applications IHC-FIHC-P
This antibody has been pretitered and quality controlled to work allon formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded as well as acetone fixed cryostat tissue sections. No further titration is required. We suggest an incubation period of 30-60 minutes at room temperature. However, depending upon the fixation conditions and the staining system employed, optimal incubation should be determined by the user. Enzymatic predigestion of paraffin embedded tissues is not necessary but in some tissues it may enhance the immunostaining.:

Tissue Specificity This antibody reacts with an antigen of 265-400 kDa belonging to a heterogenous group of heavily glycosylated proteins called human milk fat globule proteins. It stains both normal and neoplastic cells. Among normal epithelia, it reacts strongly with mammary epithelium and glandular epithelia but shows a patchy staining with squamous epithelium.
Cellular Localization Cell Membrane and Cytoplasmic
Light Chain Type kappa
