Mouse monoclonal [2Q178] to Nestin - Neuronal MarkerNestin is a 200kD, class VI intermediate filament protein that is predominantly expressed in stem cells of the neural tube; its expression usually being absent from mature neuronal cells. Nestin is downregulated upon terminal neural differentiation and replaced by neurofilaments. Nestin is extensively used as a marker to identify CNS stem cells. NB: Nestin expression has been more recently discovered in non-neural stem cell populations, such as pancreatic islet progenitors as well as hematopoietic progenitors.

Tested Applications
EMICC/IFIHC-FIHC-PWB
For EM: Tissue fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde at pH 10.0 or 4% paraformaldehyde with 0.1% glutaraldehyde at pH 7.4. For ICC: Use at a dilution of 1:10 - 1:100. Cells fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde buffered with 50mM sodium borate at pH 9.5. For IHC-P: Use at a dilution of 1:10 - 1:100. Tissue fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde at pH 7.4 for light microscopy. For IHC-Fr: Use at a dilution of 1:10 - 1:100. Tissue fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde at pH 7.4 for light microscopy. For WB: Use at an assay dependent dilution. Predicted molecular weight: 200 kDa. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the researcher.:
