OCN
Gene Full Name bone gamma-carboxyglutamate protein
Gene Summary This gene encodes a highly abundant bone protein secreted by osteoblasts that regulates bone remodeling and energy metabolism. The encoded protein contains a Gla (gamma carboxyglutamate) domain, which functions in binding to calcium and hydroxyapatite, the mineral component of bone. Serum osteocalcin levels may be negatively correlated with metabolic syndrome. Read-through transcription exists between this gene and the neighboring upstream gene, PMF1 (polyamine-modulated factor 1), but the encoded protein only shows sequence identity with the upstream gene product. Cellular Localization Secreted.
Application

IHC

IHC staining of human osteosarcoma using Osteocalcin/OCN Polyclonal antibody. Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded human osteosarcoma tissue slide using Osteocalcin antibody at dilution of 1:200 (under 10x lens. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris-EDTA buffer (pH 9.0).

IHC

IHC staining of mouse lung using Osteocalcin/OCN Polyclonal antibody. Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded mouse lung tissue slide using Osteocalcin antibody at dilution of 1:200 (under 10x lens). Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris-EDTA buffer (pH 9.0).

ICC/IF

IF Staining of NIH/3T3 using Osteocalcin/OCN Polyclonal antibody. Immunofluorescent analysis of (-20°C Ethanol) fixed NIH/3T3 cells using Osteocalcin/OCN antibody at dilution of 1:400 and 488-Conjugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L).

FC

FC experiment of U2OS using Osteocalcin/OCN Polyclonal antibody. 1x10^6 U2OS cells were intracellularly stained with 0.4 ug Osteocalcin/OCN Polyclonal antibody and 488-Conjugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L)(red), or 0.4 ug rabbit IgG isotype control (blue). Cells were fixed with 4% PFA and permeabilized with Flow Cytometry Perm Buffer.
